This area provides general information about COPD, the organizations that support research of COPD, links to other sites, news, and a discussion group. As of 2002, 16 million Americans have been diagnosed with COPD and an equal number may be undiagnosed. The National Health Survey undertaken by HHS reported that approximately 30 million Americans believe that they have COPD/emphysema and many clinicians agree that we miss about 50% of the cases so this may be a correct figure for the actual number of people with this disease. |
